What is DER TAG?

The Short Answer:

DER TAG is a two-player, symmetrical strategy card game, inspired by the trench warfare of WWI.

The Long Answer:

Trench warfare is defined by aggressive stalemates and sudden breakthroughs.

In this parallel lane battler, players race for area control by deploying troops, building trenches, and occupying enemy territory.

You'll use supplies sparingly as limited logistics make movement a matter of life and death.

In your inventory, you'll have items to help you along the way; like the triplane, which lets you see the enemy's hand and force them to discard a card; the ceasefire that protects a troop and a trench for one turn; and the grenade, an explosive way to break enemy occupation.

You can fortify your fronts with barbed wire and stack troops to create formidable fire-teams. But when a skirmish breaks out, it all comes down to your use of artillery- the perfect blend of chance and choice.

    Place as a position or fortification to expand your fronts.

    HUB CARD

    Placed as the center of your map and operations.

    EFFECT CARD

    Discard to move a troop or fireteam.

  • Triplane

    EFFECT CARD

    Discard to see the enemy’s hand and force them to discard 1 card.

  • Ceasefire

    EFFECT CARD

    Place to protect a position from all attacks for 1 turn.

  • Grenade

    EFFECT CARD

    Place to clear a position of all troops after 1 turn.

  • Artillery 1-10

    SKIRMISH CARD

    Drawn from your enemy to bomb their positions.

Why Support DER TAG?

It’s an artist’s answer to a universal problem

My name is Simon, and I’m the creator and artist of DER TAG.

I made this game because I had a problem: life moves fast and it's hard to slow down.

I love a good, heavy, group campaign as much as you do, but the truth is it's getting harder and harder for me and my friends to find the time to play them.

So seven years ago, I set out to capture the feeling of the classics in an historic fraction of the time, and I'm ready to share it with you.

With it's powerful theme and punchy art, DER TAG is a game of quick risks, and it only takes two to tango!
